GIVEAWAY with Macaroni Kid
On any given night, you can find locals shopping, dining and gathering at the Alpharetta City Center. The centrally located development is home to many locally-owned shops and restaurants. One of its newest occupants is Crave Pie Studio.
Crave Pie Studio creates seasonally-inspired sweet and savory pies made from scratch using only local and in-season produce and ingredients. The new 1,100 square foot studio is located at 360 Commerce Street and is open from 10 am – 6 pm daily. Crave Pie has gained a fan following for its distinctive and ever-changing menu of sweet and savory pies that satisfy the soul with fresh, seasonal ingredients and a signature all-butter pastry. Recently, Crave Pie Owner and Founder Briana Carson, known as the “PiEvangelist,” was featured on NBC’s “Today Show” making her signature maple-pecan pie.
“Raving fans have been seriously craving our scratch-made pies, handcrafted by highly-skilled bakers with seasonal, fresh, local ingredients and love,” said Briana Carson, Crave Pie Studio founder and owner.“ It is our intention to bring people together over good, honest food and, judging from the success of our Duluth shop, it was clearly time to expand. I picked Alpharetta City Center for its charm and close, walkable proximity to other neighborhood shops, city parks, and locally-owned merchants.”
Sizes range from tiny, three-inch pies to 10-inch pies that serve eight people. Flavors offered daily, year ‘round in its signature five-inch pie include Chocolate Chess, Lemon Chess, Chocolate Bourbon Pecan, Dutch Apple and Maple Pecan (with pure maple syrup loaded with lots of Georgia pecans). Beyond those delightful core combinations, the creativity of Crave Pie’s artisan and highly-skilled bakers paired with seasonal produce drives a daily variety of featured custard, cream and chess pies including coconut, maple and citrus flavors.
Crave Pie accommodates custom orders, catering clients, weddings and various special events.
I recently visited Crave Pie for a pie tasting and enjoyed a savory quiche pie and a selection of sweet pies; the lemon chess was my favorite! Picking up a savory pie for dinner for your family or for a "meal train" when a friend needs a little extra help is always a delicious and easy way to make a hot dinner. And, homemade pies picked up from Crave is a great way to add dessert to any table.

PIEstory: Meet Kelly
A big ‘thank you’ to Kelly for sharing her heartwarming PIEstory with the Crave Pie community.
We had the privilege of baking for Kelly and her husband, Reese's wedding last fall. They were so busy at the reception that they missed out on enjoying pie. The newlyweds packed their precious pies in their carry on luggage. Keep your favorite dessert close, right?
When they landed they realized that their carry on bag was accidentally taken by another passenger. Sadly, their pies were gone. OH NO! 😢
To add insult to injury, Kelly had been writing letters to her future husband from the time she was a young teenager and planned to give the collection to her new husband on their honeymoon. Are you crying yet? We’re crying! 😭
Fortunately, with the help of the local police, Kelly and Reese got their luggage back and all of the precious letters were intact. 💓 Unfortunately, the pies had been "thrown out" (yeah right!) so they missed out on the wedding treat they were anticipating.
After learning of their pie plight, Kelly's parents made a trip to Crave Pie Studio Duluth to buy pies to send to the couple.
As fate would have it, they showed up just a few days after the fire destroyed our shop. (We’re screaming on the inside!!!!!)
They kindly shared how much their wedding guests enjoyed the pie. They wanted to send pies to Kelly and Reese to surprise them. Their words were a comfort and an affirmation for us to find a way to keep on baking pies to share during life's milestone moments.
We’re happy to report that Kelly recently visited our new Alpharetta shop where she picked up a few pies for her and Reese to finally enjoy. We hope this sweet couple lives happily ever after!

Consumers can also place custom orders for pies in various sizes and seasonal flavors.
Carson is dedicated to bringing people together around the table for conversation and human connection. With this new Crave Pie location, Carson aims to create a community-driven gathering place where friends and strangers alike can bond.

A big ‘thank you’ to Tracey for sharing her heartwarming PIEstory with the Crave Pie community.
Here is picture of Curt, Tracey and their Jack Russell, baby Pearl.
Crave Pie: What is your all time favorite pie flavor?
T.R.: Apple or your chocolate chess
CP: Are you a pie baker?
T.R.: No, I am not a cook nor a baker so I appreciate those that have this special skill/gift
CP: Is there a family member or friend in your life who was a pie baker?
T.R.: Yes, my beloved Memaw made the most awesome cherry pies. Sadly, she passed away in a tragic accident the week before my wedding and was buried in the dress she was going to wear. I still dream about her
CP: Tell us about your fondest memory of pie in your life.
T.R.: Your little pies got my husband and me through a difficult time in our lives. In December of 2013, he had both of his knees replaced at the SAME TIME (he’s tough-we are both retired police officers but this was rough on him and on me as his caregiver). He was sent to Glancy for rehabilitation. I would go to Crave Pie almost everyday and get little pies as our treat (hospital food you know!). Enjoying those pies together were the highlight of our day!
CP: Was there a favorite pie that was present at family gatherings?
T.R.: My Memaw’s cherry pie which my mother took over after her death
CP: Have you visited Crave Pie Studio?
T.R.: Many times while my husband was doing his rehab around the corner and many times since! The hardest part is making the decision on what to get!

About: Crave Pie began in 2010 when, after being laid off from a corporate job of 20 years, I found myself standing at a crossroads. I could, I realized, continue down a familiar path that I knew led to a place which would not make me happy or I could, in the words of Robert Frost, take “the road less traveled” into the unknown. Faced with that decision, I decided to go to culinary school.
I entered Gwinnett Technical College with a passion for savory cooking and a complete disdain for baking. I hadn’t learned how to bake at my grandmothers side, nor did I inherit family heirloom recipes like many bakers do and so I dreaded Baking 101. However, I chose to forge ahead in the face of my fear and for the practical final exam I baked an apple pie from scratch. As fate would have it, that experience would prove pivotal in my journey.
Suddenly my disdain for baking was gone and I found myself entirely enchanted with all things pie!
I fell in love with pie, its versatility, and the endless possibilities that present themselves... from sweet to savory, and from season to season. After deciding that I wanted to devote my energies to pie creation, I left school and spent the next 9 months learning and practicing the craft.
Then, one day I received a gift that would change my life.
Just a few days before my husband, Greg, was to be deployed with the Army National Guard, I walked into my kitchen to find a huge industrial sized garbage can with a bow on it. Putting aside my initial irritation that he had put a gigantic garbage can in the middle of my kitchen I opened the lid and discovered that it was filled with professional pie making tools! It was in that moment that I knew it was time to take action and follow my passion, so I put my trust in God and took a leap of faith.
Nothing brings people together quite like food prepared with love. Today, nearly a decade later, Crave Pie Studio stands in historic Downtown Duluth spreading The Good News of Pie and striving to make the world a better place by bringing people together. One pie at a time.
I truly hope to see you here soon.

PIEstory: Meet Katie
A big ‘thank you’ to Katie for sharing her PIEstory with the Crave Pie community.
Crave Pie: What is your all time favorite pie flavor?
Katie B.: Oh, that's tough! I love so many types of pies, but Crave Pie's Nutella Pie is one of the best desserts I've ever tasted.
CP: Are you a pie baker?
KB: Since my husband is from Kentucky, I've grown very fond of Chocolate Bourbon Pecan pies - that's the only pie I make.
CP: Is there a family member or friend in your life who was a pie baker?
KB: Yes, my Grandmother. My Grandparents were farmers in Michigan and avid gardeners. My Grandmother, an incredible cook and baker, enjoyed making strawberry rhubarb pie, mincemeat pie, apple pie and sweet potato pie for her family. My Grandmother passed away last year and my Grandfather passed this year - those family recipes are extra special now!
CP: Tell us about your fondest memory of pie in your life.
KB: Crave Pie holds a special place in my heart because that was one of the first places I took my son on a mother/son date. He was two and we lived about 2 miles from Crave Pie Studio at the time so I pushed him in our stroller and we ate pie and played at the local park. He was so excited to pick out the pie we shared. I still have the photo of him digging into that pie! He's 6 now, and we've been there several times since; he still gets just as excited about picking out a pie to enjoy!
CP: Was there a favorite pie that was present at family gatherings?
KB: Thanksgiving isn't complete without my Aunt's pumpkin pie!
CP: Have you visited Crave Pie Studio?
KB: Yes... many times!
